EMEA President, Prof. Rym Ayadi, participates at the T20 Roundtable on “Banking for Sustainable and Inclusive Infrastructure”
The President of the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi, participated at the Roundtable “Banking for Sustainable and Inclusive Infrastructure””, which was organised by Istituto Affari Internazionali – IAI, T20 National Co-Chair in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo on 21 July 2021.
The roundtable aimed to encourage the dialogue between the T20 and other engagement groups and stakeholders to discuss how the G20 could promote the mobilization of banking investors for sustainable and inclusive infrastructure. The event opened with a keynote speech by Antonella Baldino, Chief, International Development Finance Officer, Cassa depositi e prestiti (CDP), and it was moderated by Franco Passacantando, Scientific Advisor, IAI.
At her intervention Prof Ayadi highlighted: “What we propose is a new standardised private public partnership bond to finance infrastructure development in low and middle income countries while requiring full debt transparency.”
The roundtable included Otaviano Canuto, Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South, Riccardo Dutto, Global Head of Infrastructure & Real Estate, Intesa Sanpaolo, Cinthya Pastor, Director of Economics Global Infrastructure Hub, and John SEED, Head of Sustainable Infrastructure Policy Unit, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The event was moderated by Franco PASSACANTANDO, Scientific Advisor, IAI.
The webinar closed with the final remarks of Gelsomina Vigliotti, Director General, International Financial Relations, Department of the Treasury, Ministry of Economy and Finance of Italy
Prof. Ayadi had also participated at the closed-door workshop “Transforming Infrastructure Through Digital Technology: The Role of G20”, which was held on 12 July 2021. The workshop had opened with a keynote address from the Italian Minister of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility, Enrico Giovannini.
